With Scotland about to host the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles in Perthshire, the glorious trophy itself is on a promotional tour of the country.
The go-ahead Machrihanish Dunes golf resort in Kintyre – with its spectacular course built in a Site of Special Scientific Interest in the famous dunes and its fairways grazed close by a flock of black Hebroden sheep – has snapped up an appearance of the trophy for Monday 8th September.
It will be in the group’s commanding Royal Hotel on the waterfront opposite the harbour in Campeltown between 10.15 and 11.15 only.
The gleaming gold cup on its elegant stem will be welcomed by a piper, with everyone interested welcome to come along to view it, with teas and coffees on the go.
This is one of the world;s most coveted golf trophies. It will be in Campbeltown s few days before the best golfers in the world compete for it in the ritual team contest between the USA and Europe at Gleneagles.
